Discovering chic sustainable brands has become a real passion of mine, especially when I spend a lot of my time as a stylist researching designers for fittings and private clients. Kapara London is one of those brands I got truly excited about – their easy to wear beachwear styles and sleepwear are both beautifully made and have real wardrobe longevity.
Kapara designs and manufactures their clothes in Jaipur, India. The brand philosophy is to help improve the lives of the people that live in the places where they choose to design. Kapara have set up 2 foundations to date: The Rucksack Project and Weaving The Future, both of which work specifically with children in Jaipur. Alongside the foundations they’ve also set up a women’s empowerment programme that teaches women from the slums how to sew and provides them with employment. If you shop with Kapara, you’re not only investing in chic sustainable clothing that will last, but you’re also helping clothe, educate and support children and women in Jaipur. The brands ethos is really quite remarkable. Here’s a video on the brands process from start-to-finish:
This video Kapara have created showcases exactly how their clothes are made, and as a customer it’s truly amazing to have all this information because it gives you full disclosure: there’s nothing the brand is trying to hide. For me, a brand that shows their whole process, from the dyeing and manufacturing of fabrics right through to the stitching, allows you to trust in the product so much more. You know exactly how your pieces were made – which these days is priceless.
